PROJECT DETAILS
Purpose:
To assemble a temporary, mission-aligned team of artists, technicians, and organizers to produce one or more local performances of An American Musical as a civic, artistic, and community event.
Participants show:
- Commitment to peaceful resistance, democratic values, and respectful civic engagement
- Artistic standards appropriate to professional or advanced pre-professional work
- A spirit of collaboration rooted in service to the story, the audience, and the community
Project Scope:
This is a
finite project, not the founding of a new theater company. This initiative is conceived as a
special event production with a clear beginning, middle, and end. It invites participation from the existing community theater, collegiate, and independent artist ecosystems rather than competing with or replacing them. The emphasis is on collaboration, not institution-building.
Timeline:
- Applications accepted until roles filled. First qualified applicant for each role is in. (See How to Apply)
- Target performance window: July 2026 or later, allowing adequate time for planning, casting, rehearsal, and technical preparation
- Development phases to include: team formation, venue partnership, casting, rehearsal period, performances, and post-production documentation
Anticipated Outcomes:
- One or more fully staged public performances
- Professional-quality documentation (video, audio, photography)
- A replicable model for future productions by other communities
