FULL DISCLOSURE: Composer/Playwright John McDonnell Tierney, aka “Jack,” is inviting a limited number of experienced theater artists to participate pro bono in a single, time-bounded project. This is not speculative development, résumé-building, or unpaid labor in service of profit. Instead, this project follows a long tradition of professionals offering their craft in service of democratic values, public dialogue, and peaceful resistance during moments of national strain. What is being asked is not “free work,” but donated expertise the same way lawyers, doctors, journalists, teachers, and artists have historically stepped forward when the moment called for witness rather than compensation.
